Academics

The Faculty of Integrated Technologies (FIT) offers the Bachelor of Engineering Degree in the following two programme areas:

  1. Chemical and Process Engineering
  2. General Engineering in one of the following concentrations
    1. Energy Systems
    2. Information and Communications Systems
    3. Manufaturing Systems

Graduates from these programmes are expected to serve and lead in the industries of their specialization. Where our Chemical and Process Engineering Program was tailor-made to equip our students with required expertise in Oil Refineries in collaboration with Hengyi Industries China and Zhejang University China, our General Engineering program is designed and conducted in such a way to meet the requirements for ABET accreditation which is, a prestigious engineering accreditation body, recognized internationally.

Graduate Programme

At the moment FIT offers PhD and Masters in Engineering by Research only

PhD in Engineering (Phd-Engg.) by Research Program

Intake: Twice per year (January and August)

Duration: Full-time (3 years)

The Faculty of Integrated Technologies (FIT) offers TWO (2) PhD programmes:

  • PhD in Systems Engineering:
    • Energy Systems Engineering
    • Manufacturing Systems Engineering
    • Info communication Systems Engineering
  • PhD in Chemical and Process Engineering

Masters in Engineering (MS-Engg.) by Research Program

Intake: Twice per year (January and August)

Duration: Full-time (2 years)

The minimum period of study will be 24 months to be taken by the candidate, as advised by the supervisor and the faculty.

The Universiti Brunei Darussalam introduced the Graduate Research Scholarship (GRS) Programme in August 2010 to facilitate and promote research degrees in order to develop the University into a research-intensive university, and also to expand and enhance the quality of graduate programmes and graduates. It is for PhD studies only.

UBD-SKKU Dual Degree Programme (DDP)

The Faculty of Integrated Technologies (FIT) Universiti Brunei Darussalam and College of Engineering, Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) has recently signed an MOU to jointly run Dual Degree Postgraduate Programs. The Master, PhD and Master leading to PhD Programs in Industrial Engineering with the specialization in Smart Factory Convergence will serve as a stepping stone towards the relationship of two world class universities and will also support modern, independent and self-reliant industrial vision of Brunei. One of the main features of this Dual Degree programme is to promote student’s experiential learning by taking modules from SKKU which are in line with the recent IR4.0 developments. The students will have great opportunities to be involved with industry leaders and involved in industry relevant research topics that will be co-supervised by highly qualified staff at SKKU and UBD.

SKKU is ranked 95th in the recent QS world rankings and it is the 15th in the Asia rankings. SKKU spends heavily on research and development, mostly funded by its primary sponsors, the tech-giants Samsung and Hyundai and other government funding agencies as well, thus producing high-end research scientists.
